Elshad Namazov – Head of the Marketing and Communications Department of Absheron Logistics Center
The Absheron Logistics Center was inaugurated on August 13, 2018. The opening ceremony was attended by President Ilham Aliyev. The Center covers an area of 65 hectares. It is considered a dry port and operates as a customs-controlled zone. We provide a full range of logistics services here, including international transportation, domestic transportation, and warehousing services. All our services are delivered through a one-stop-shop system.
We participate in exhibitions every year. Although our primary focus is the logistics sector, last year’s exhibition led to new projects for us. We launched the New Business Park project within our territory. This is the first Private Industrial District in the country. It has been built on a 20-hectare site and already has its first resident company. Work is underway to attract additional residents.
The advantages of this Private Industrial District are significant. Manufacturing and processing companies are located there. We provide the necessary infrastructure, while the companies bring in their equipment and begin production. Import and export operations become much more convenient for them, as they can ship their goods directly from the logistics center abroad without incurring additional transportation costs. Furthermore, the government provides tax incentives to these companies. There is considerable interest in the project, and the Business Park is already operational.
The Absheron Logistics Center is one of the largest dry ports in the Caucasus region, which makes participation in exhibitions of this kind especially important for us. We are also among the companies contributing to the country’s economy. Interest in logistics is growing. As you know, a significant share of cargo transported via the Middle Corridor arrives at our Center.
Within the framework of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, the first train arriving from Xi’an came to our Center. Likewise, the first export shipment to China via Kazakhstan was dispatched from our Center. The President personally monitored this process by joining online. For this reason, we are highly interested in the
Middle Corridor and in facilitating the transit of cargo through this route to European countries.
The exhibition has always been important and productive for us. Already on the first day, we held numerous meetings and negotiations with Chinese companies and representatives from other countries. We certainly expect new partnerships to emerge from the exhibition. This is extremely important for us.
